Our Progress
In December 2008 PEP purchased the future home of PEP Prentiss Autism Center (formerly PEP Harbor) in Fairview Park, Ohio. Originally built to house a medical billing company, the space was broken into large rooms filled with cubicles and low ceilings. After months of preparation and demolition the transformation was well underway. Architects and designers began laying the foundation for this state-of-the-art learning environment. Now, less than two years later, PEP Prentiss is complete and opened its doors to students in August 2010.
Every inch of the 33,000 square-foot facility was designed to specifically support the special needs of students with autism and their families. Dedicated spaces, including life skills rooms, small group instructional rooms and sensory rooms were created to fully support PEP Prentiss' specialized curricula. Sound-management barriers; indirect, natural and full-spectrum lighting; soothing colors and comfortable spaces create a calm environment to nurture learning and growth. A modern training center facilitates research and learning in proximity to where direct service is being delivered, creating opportunity for collaboration among educational professionals, medical experts and parents. Modern technology throughout the building enhances the learning experience for all who utilize the facility.
