PEP
Harbor, one of PEP’s ten Day Treatment Centers, specializes in serving
children and youth with autism spectrum disorder.
At
PEP Harbor, our approach is highly individualized. PEP doesn’t expect the child to
fit into the program - the program is built around the needs of each
child. PEP professionals have a firm foundation in behavioral strategies
and are trained in multiple methodologies for working with children and
youth with autism spectrum disorder including: Applied Behavior Analysis,
Developmental Therapy/Developmental Teaching, Floor Time, Positive
Behavioral Supports, Sensory Integration and TEACCH, among
others.
Many young people with significant developmental delays simply
cannot transfer skills learned in the classroom to life in the real
world. To
help children generalize skills, PEP Harbor accesses an alternative
curriculum that is aligned with Ohio’s Academic Content Standards through
a continuum of community-based
experiences

The
constant challenge is to design a daily program so engaging, so varied and
new yet orderly and stable...so meshed with the growth of
the child's mind, so rich in human interchange...
The teacher-counselor is the pivotal person in
making such a day possible... She has to
be able to do things with confidence and assurance,
so that she can have the heart and
mind to respond personally to children.
