PEP Early Childhood Centers’ (ECC) Pre-School Children with
Disabilities (PCD) services specialize in helping young children
with significant behavior challenges. Nearly one-third of the
children in Early Childhood PCD service have a diagnosis along the
autism spectrum.
In its service to children with autism, PEP ECC place a
strong emphasis on social skills, coping strategies and interaction
with non-autistic peers.
Working in partnership with school districts, PEP ECC work
collaboratively to help children transition into their next
environment.
For each child the program is individualized, employing the
methodologies that are likely to have the greatest impact for the
child. Programming
incorporates elements of Floor Time, TEACCH and behavioral
approaches, among others.
The environment is rich in visual cues, including social
stories and picture schedules.
