Connections
PEP Connections is designed to serve children and youth who:
- Have been diagnosed with a serious emotional disturbance;
- Are involved with two or more of Cuyahoga County’s child
service systems such as the Department of Children and Family
Services and/or the Juvenile Court; and
- Are either at serious risk of removal from their families
and the community, or are returning to their families and the
community from placement.
Often, children with serious emotional problems are involved with
several child-serving systems. Their challenges often create
significant strain on their families and communities, and there is
a serious risk that the child will need to live away from the family. These
factors create a situation where multiple caring professionals may
be involved. Despite the best of intentions, the messages from
different professionals can be contradictory and can create frustration
and confusion. Connections coordinates services to ensure this
confusion does not limit the child’s success.
